The Sovereign is Britain's classic gold coin. It was first struck in 1489, and the modern Sovereign has been made by The Royal Mint since 1817.
Sovereigns are struck in 22 carat gold and come in five sizes, from the Quarter Sovereign to the Five-Sovereign Piece. They're UK legal tender and count as investment gold, so they're free from both Capital Gains Tax and VAT for UK buyers.
You'll find our full range of Sovereigns below.

As gold bullion is exempt from UK VAT, there are no applicable taxes at the point of purchase.
However, investors should note that gold bars are liable for Capital Gains Tax at the point of sale, if you exceed your capital gains threshold within your tax year and you make a profit on the sale.
