Hallmark Wizard : Identify Your Gold Hallmark
We've compiled a gold hallmark identification wizard to help decipher the markings that are stamped on your item.
November 2024 update: We're delighted to have finally included Chester hallmarks, from 1819 to the closure of the Chester Assay Office in 1962.
Gold Traders has compiled a gold hallmark identification wizard to help decipher the markings stamped on your item.
Have a look at your piece of jewellery. If it was made in a country that adheres to the Convention on the Control and Marking of Articles of Precious Metals (otherwise known as the Common Control Mark), you should find a set of hallmarks/stamps. These markings will be small, so you'll need a magnifying glass to see them properly!
Note: The following gold hallmarking identification wizard is supplied without warranty. While every effort has been made to ensure its accuracy, we offer no guarantees. This project is ongoing, and it's acknowledged that there may be errors/omissions. Please get in touch with us if you have any suggestions on improving it.
