Product Description

Small in size but full of detail, the tenth-ounce Silver Britannia is the most affordable way to own a Britannia. It's ideal for first-time silver buyers, gifts and collectors.

The 2027 coin celebrates 30 years since the first Silver Britannia in 1997. Its anniversary features include:

  • a '30' wave privy mark, used only on 2027 silver Britannias
  • an anniversary background texture showing the number 30
  • Philip Nathan's 1987 Britannia design, with shield, trident and olive branch

Despite measuring just 16.5mm across, it includes the four security features found across the Britannia range: a latent image, surface animation, micro-text and tincture lines. The obverse carries King Charles III's portrait by Martin Jennings and a 20p face value.

We post single coins in a protective flip. The Royal Mint usually packs this size in tubes of 16, so larger orders may arrive in an original tube.

A tenth-ounce coin keeps the cost of each purchase low, which makes it easy to add silver bit by bit.

Investing Information

The coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents. That's because the 2027 1/10oz Silver Britannia is UK legal tender, and legal tender UK coins are not subject to CGT.

Silver Britannias are known by bullion dealers across the UK, so they're easy to identify and sell. Gold Traders buys silver Britannias at our branches and by post.

We can give you the facts about how tax applies, but we're not able to give personal financial advice. Please research your options and get professional advice where needed before you invest.

Denomination Information

The Silver Britannia was launched by The Royal Mint in 1997. The tenth-ounce coin is the smallest silver Britannia in today's bullion range, giving buyers a low-cost way into the series.

It shares the same famous design as the larger coins. Philip Nathan's Britannia, created in 1987, shows the figure who has represented Britain on coins since Roman times.

Silver Britannias were first made in 958 fine Britannia silver. Since 2013 they've been struck in 999 fine silver, and since 2021 they've carried four security features to protect against fakes.

The 1/10oz coin is a favourite for gifts and for people who want to build up their silver gradually.
