Product Description
If you're new to gold, or want to add to your holding a little at a time, the tenth-ounce Britannia is a great place to start. It's small, easy to store and carries the same trusted design as its bigger siblings.
The 2027 coin celebrates 40 years of the Gold Britannia, which The Royal Mint first issued in 1987. Look closely and you'll find:
- a '40' privy mark in the waves behind Britannia
- the number 40 woven into the background texture
- Philip Nathan's original Britannia, holding her shield, trident and olive branch
Even at 16.5mm across, the coin includes all four Britannia security features: a latent image, surface animation, micro-text and tincture lines. The obverse shows King Charles III by Martin Jennings, with a £10 face value.
Each coin is supplied in a protective flip. Bigger orders may come in original tubes from The Royal Mint, so please ask if you need to know before you buy.
Tenth-ounce coins are a simple, flexible way to own real gold, and they make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, christenings and other milestones.

Investing Information
There's no VAT on the 2027 1/10oz Gold Britannia. Under UK rules, investment-grade gold coins like this one are exempt from VAT.
UK residents also won't pay Capital Gains Tax on any profit when they sell it. The coin is UK legal tender, and legal tender UK coins are outside the scope of CGT.
Small Britannias are well known and easy to trade. Because the coin is so recognisable, selling it later is usually straightforward, and Gold Traders buys them in branch and by post.

Denomination Information
The tenth-ounce coin has been part of the Gold Britannia family since 1987, when The Royal Mint launched the series in four sizes. It has always been the most affordable way into the range.
It shares its design with the larger coins. Britannia, a symbol of Britain since Roman times, stands with her trident and shield on every size.
The 1/10oz coin has moved with the times. It was made in 22 carat gold until 2012, then in 24 carat gold from 2013. Security features followed in 2021, and King Charles III's portrait appeared from 2023.
Today it's one of the most accessible coins in The Royal Mint's bullion range, popular with first-time buyers and with investors who like flexibility.
