The 1oz Silver Britannia is the coin most people picture when they think of UK silver bullion. For 2027, it gets a special anniversary makeover to mark three decades since it was first struck.
Each coin contains a full troy ounce of 999 fine silver. The reverse shows Philip Nathan's Britannia with her shield, olive branch and trident, and this year's coin adds:
- a '30' wave privy mark, only used on 2027 silver coins
- a background texture featuring the number 30
It also keeps the four security features introduced in 2021. These are a latent image that changes from a trident to a padlock, surface animation in the waves, micro-text reading DECUS ET TUTAMEN and tincture lines on the Union flag. On the obverse is Martin Jennings' portrait of King Charles III with the £2 face value.
Each single coin is packed in a protective flip. Order 25 and you'll receive an original tube from The Royal Mint, while orders of 500 arrive in a sealed monster box.

Delivery Information
Orders are sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery. That means your silver is insured in full and tracked all the way.
Get your order in before 1pm, Monday to Friday, and it will be dispatched the same day, subject to availability. Being an Official Partner of The Royal Mint means our new coins come directly from the mint, and every order is dispatched by us.
You're also welcome to use Click & Collect at checkout, which saves on postage. Your order will be held at our Royal Wootton Bassett branch, and we'll email you once it's ready. Please bring official photo ID, like a passport or driving licence.
Card payments are by UK debit card only, or you can pay by bank transfer. We don't take credit cards. Large orders may need to be paid by bank transfer before dispatch, and we only supply UK customers.
Investing Information
VAT at the standard rate applies to the 2027 1oz Silver Britannia. Unlike gold, new silver coins aren't VAT exempt in the UK.
The coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents, though. It's UK legal tender, and gains on UK legal tender coins aren't taxed under CGT. That's a big reason Silver Britannias are popular with UK buyers.

The Royal Mint launched the Silver Britannia in 1997, a decade after the gold coin. It gave investors a British silver bullion coin with legal tender status.
The first coins were struck in Britannia silver, a traditional British standard of 958 fine. In 2013, The Royal Mint moved up to 999 fine silver.
In 2021, the coin was refreshed with four security features to make it harder to copy. From 2023, new coins have carried the portrait of King Charles III.
Thirty years on, the 1oz Silver Britannia is one of the most popular silver coins in the UK, valued for its purity, design and tax position.
