Product Description
Platinum is rarer than gold and silver, and the Platinum Britannia gives you a simple, trusted way to own it. The Royal Mint has made platinum Britannias since 2018.
The 2027 coin is struck in 999.5 fine platinum, with a full troy ounce of metal. The reverse shows Philip Nathan's Britannia, first created in 1987, holding a shield for protection, an olive branch for peace and a trident for her link to the sea.
Please note that the platinum coin doesn't carry the anniversary privy mark or numbered background texture found on the 2027 gold and silver coins. The Royal Mint states that every 2027 Britannia bullion coin includes four security features:
- a latent image that changes as you tilt the coin
- surface animation in the waves behind Britannia
- micro-text around the design
- tincture lines on the Union flag
On the obverse is the official coinage portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, with the £100 face value.
The Royal Mint supplies this coin in tubes. Single coins are sent in protective packaging, and you're welcome to contact us about larger orders.
For buyers who want to spread their holdings beyond gold and silver, the Platinum Britannia is a well-known coin in a less common metal.

Denomination Information
The Royal Mint introduced the Platinum Britannia in 2018, adding a third precious metal to a series that began with gold in 1987 and silver in 1997.
The coin uses the same famous design as the gold and silver Britannias. Britannia has stood for Britain since Roman times, and returned to British coins in 1672.
Platinum Britannias are struck in 999.5 fine platinum and carry a £100 face value on the 1oz coin. Like the rest of the range, new coins now feature the portrait of King Charles III.
Today, the Platinum Britannia gives UK investors a recognisable, legal tender way to hold platinum.
