About this product
Our best value pre-owned 1oz silver bars are one of the lowest-cost ways to own a full troy ounce of silver. Each bar is at least 999 fine and comes from our mixed stock of recognised refiners. Because they're pre-owned, they're sold under the VAT margin scheme, so VAT is only charged on our margin.
Read moreOne troy ounce of at least 999 fine silver. The refiner and design vary, but every bar is stamped with its weight and purity.
If you want silver at a price that stays close to the value of the metal, a best value 1oz bar is a simple place to start. You're paying for the silver, not for a famous design or a special finish.
These bars are pre-owned, which means they've had a previous owner. The silver inside is exactly the same as in a new bar.
We send the best value 1oz bar we have in stock. Our pre-owned stock comes from a mix of recognised refiners, so the brand, shape and design can vary. Every bar is stamped with its weight and purity.
As these bars are pre-owned, some may show light handling marks or toning. Toning is a thin coloured layer that forms when silver reacts with the air over time. It's purely cosmetic and doesn't change the amount of silver in the bar.
Depending on how they reached us, bars may arrive sealed in their original packaging or loose. Either way, we pack every order securely for delivery.
Every pre-owned bar is checked by our team before it goes on sale. If we can't verify a bar, we won't sell it.

Your order is sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, so it's fully insured and tracked.
Place your order before 1pm on a weekday and we'll normally dispatch it the same day, as long as it's in stock. Pre-owned stock changes quickly, and every bar is checked before it's posted.
Would you rather collect? Select 'Click & Collect' at checkout to skip the postage. We'll hold your order at our Royal Wootton Bassett branch and email you once it's ready. You'll need official photo ID, like a passport or driving licence.
You can pay by UK debit card or bank transfer. We don't accept credit cards.
We only supply UK customers.
New silver bars carry VAT at the standard rate on the full price. These bars are pre-owned, so they're sold under the VAT margin scheme instead. VAT is only charged on our margin, not on the whole price.
Silver bars aren't legal tender, so they aren't exempt from Capital Gains Tax. You'd only pay CGT if you sold at a profit and your total gains for that tax year were over your annual allowance.
UK legal tender silver coins, such as our best value 1oz Silver Britannias, are exempt from CGT. Silver bars aren't.
Silver's price can move more sharply than gold's, partly because so much of it is used by industry.
When you sell, the price you receive will follow the silver price on the day. Gold Traders buys silver too, and you can see our current silver prices at any time.
Good to know: we can explain the tax facts for this bar, but we can't give personal financial advice. Please do your own research, and get professional guidance if you need it, before you invest.
Precious metals are weighed in troy ounces. One troy ounce is 31.1 grams, which is about 10% heavier than the ounce used for food.
Silver bars are either cast or minted. Cast bars are made by pouring molten silver into a mould, which gives them a rustic look. Minted bars are cut from a sheet of silver and stamped, giving them sharp edges and a smooth finish. Small bars like these are usually minted.
Silver has been used as money for thousands of years. Today it's also an important industrial metal, used in electronics, solar panels and medicine.
The 1oz bar is the smallest common size for silver bullion bars. It's easy to buy, store and sell, and it lets you build up your silver one bar at a time.
Every pre-owned bar we sell is checked by our team first. Anything we can't verify never goes on sale.
Gold Traders has bought and sold precious metals since 2008. We were the first precious metals company in the UK to earn Trading Standards accreditation through the national Buy With Confidence scheme, and we're members of the British Numismatic Trade Association.
