This is the vampire that started it all. The 2025 Count Dracula 1oz Silver Bullion Coin was the first release in The Royal Mint's Gothic Horror series, and it brings Bram Stoker's most famous villain to a full ounce of 999 fine silver.
Irish author Bram Stoker drew on vampire folklore from Eastern Europe to write Dracula. The novel was first published in London in 1897.
Count Dracula has shaped how vampires look and behave in books, films and plays ever since. More than 125 years on, the book remains one of the best-known horror stories in the world.
American artist Joel Iskowitz places the Count right at the front of the scene, wrapped in his famous cloak. Bats fly overhead, and his eerie castle sits behind him, framed by a full moon.
The reverse carries the words COUNT DRACULA and 1OZ 999 FINE SILVER, along with the year of issue. The obverse shows Martin Jennings' portrait of King Charles III and the inscription CHARLES III D G REX F D 2 POUNDS.
The Royal Mint has built two anti-counterfeit features into this coin:
The Royal Mint has capped this design at 50,000 silver coins worldwide. The gold version is limited to just 5,000.
Every single coin is posted in a protective flip. Buy 25 and they'll arrive in an original tube from The Royal Mint, while 500 coins come in a sealed monster box.
It's a simple way to hold a full ounce of fine silver, and the natural starting point for anyone collecting the Gothic Horror series.

When you come to sell, the picture is better. The coin is UK legal tender with a £2 face value, and gains on UK legal tender coins are exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents. If you're building a bigger silver holding, that's worth knowing.

We can explain the tax facts, but we can't give you personal financial advice. Please do your own research, and get professional guidance if you need it, before making an investment decision.
The Royal Mint gives its 1oz silver bullion coins a £2 face value, and the Count Dracula coin is no different. You wouldn't spend it, of course. Its real value comes from the silver it contains, which follows the market price.
A Royal Proclamation made at Buckingham Palace on 15 October 2025 authorised the coin, and it came into force the next day. The Proclamation sets the standard weight at 31.21 grams and the diameter at 38.61mm, with silver at least 999 parts per thousand pure and a grained edge.
Count Dracula opened The Royal Mint's Gothic Horror series in 2025. Frankenstein's Monster followed in 2026, with the same 1oz size, the same security features and the same 50,000 limit for silver.
Themed coins like this sell for their silver value plus a premium. In return, you get a recognised UK legal tender coin with a design that tells a story.
