The Queen's Beasts is one of The Royal Mint's best-loved bullion series. This square completer bar celebrates it by bringing all ten beasts together in a single design, struck in an ounce of fine silver.
Mary Gillick's portrait of the young Elizabeth II sits at the centre of the bar. It was the first definitive coinage portrait of her reign, used on UK coins from 1953.
Around the portrait stand the ten Queen's Beasts. The design also includes the flowers of the four nations, shown exactly as they appeared on Elizabeth II's first commemorative coin, the 1953 Coronation Crown. The same flower motifs later featured on the Memorial 50p, the first commemorative coin of King Charles III.
The bar measures 35mm square and has a milled edge, like a coin.
The Royal Mint limited the mintage of this 1oz silver bar to 70,000.
This bar has had a previous owner. It contains exactly the same silver as a new bar, and because it's pre-owned, it's sold under the VAT margin scheme rather than with full VAT. Every pre-owned bar is checked by our team before it goes on sale.
Each bar comes in a sealed PVC pack, which protects it from fingerprints and handling marks. It isn't supplied in The Royal Mint's own blister packaging, which was only available directly from The Royal Mint.
The same design is also available in gold as our Queen's Beasts 1oz gold bar. You can also browse our full Queen's Beasts range.
We send every order by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured and tracked.
Order before 1pm, Monday to Friday, and if the bar is in stock we'll usually dispatch it the same day. Pre-owned stock changes often, and every bar is checked by our team before it's sent.
Prefer to collect? Choose 'Click & Collect' at checkout and there's no postage to pay. We'll keep your order at our Royal Wootton Bassett branch and email you when it's ready. Please bring official photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence.
We accept UK debit cards and bank transfers. Credit cards aren't accepted.
We only supply customers in the UK.
New silver bars carry VAT at the standard rate on the full price. This bar is pre-owned, so we sell it under the VAT margin scheme. VAT is only charged on our margin, which can make pre-owned silver better value than new.
Bars aren't legal tender, so this bar isn't exempt from Capital Gains Tax. You'd only pay CGT if you made a profit when you sell and your total gains for that tax year were over your annual allowance.
The price of this bar is based on silver, but its limited mintage and popular design may also appeal to collectors. That doesn't mean its value will rise.
When you sell, the price you receive will follow the silver price at the time. Gold Traders buys silver too, and you can check our current silver prices at any time.
Please note: we're happy to explain how tax applies to this bar, but we can't give personal financial advice. Please do your own research, and speak to a qualified adviser if you need to, before you invest.
The Queen's Beasts are ten heraldic creatures that represent the royal ancestry of Elizabeth II. At her coronation in 1953, statues of the beasts stood guard outside Westminster Abbey. They were sculpted by James Woodford, and stone copies now stand at Kew Gardens.
The ten beasts are the Lion of England, the Griffin of Edward III, the Falcon of the Plantagenets, the Black Bull of Clarence, the Yale of Beaufort, the White Lion of Mortimer, the White Horse of Hanover, the White Greyhound of Richmond, the Red Dragon of Wales and the Unicorn of Scotland.
Between 2016 and 2021, The Royal Mint released a bullion coin for each beast, designed by Jody Clark. The series ended in 2021 with a completer coin showing all ten together.
The Royal Mint later brought the beasts together again on this square bullion bar, with Mary Gillick's portrait of Elizabeth II at its centre, to honour the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
Sculptor Mary Gillick created the first coinage portrait of Elizabeth II. It shows the young Queen wearing a laurel wreath and appeared on UK coins from 1953.
Every pre-owned bar we sell is checked by our team before it's listed. If we can't verify it, we won't sell it.
