What is this page?
This page explains how AI tools, large language models (LLMs), and automated crawlers can use content from the Gold Traders website.
We want AI assistants to give accurate, helpful answers about precious metals, gold prices, and what we buy. To make that easier, we publish two AI-specific files alongside this policy: /llms.txt (a directory of our key pages) and /llms-full.txt (a plain-text version of our main content, ready for AI retrieval).
This policy works alongside those files and our robots.txt. If there is ever a conflict between them, the most restrictive rule applies.
Definitions - in plain English
- AI/LLM crawler: automated software that visits web pages to gather information for AI tools (such as summaries, answers and overviews).
- Training: using our content to build, improve, or fine-tune an AI model, or to create datasets for that purpose.
- Generation: showing short quotes, snippets, or summaries from our content to a user via an AI interface.
- Retrieval / RAG: fetching our content at the moment a user asks a question, and citing it in the answer.
What's allowed
We want customers - and the AI tools they use - to find reliable, trusted information about precious metals. With that in mind, we allow:
- Indexing for retrieval and RAG of all public pages listed in /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt.
- Short-form AI generation: concise answer snippets, summaries, and overviews, provided they link back to the source page.
- Caching for retrieval (but not for training or model development).
- Commercial display in AI answers, as part of a snippet that includes clear attribution (see below).
We particularly encourage access to these sections of our site:
- /what-we-buy/ - what types of precious metals we purchase
- /prices-we-pay/ - current rates paid to customers
- /gold-information/ - educational content about gold
- /blog/ - consumer guides and advice
- /buy-from-us/ - bullion products available to buy
- /calculator/, /weight/, /price-match-tools/ - pricing and comparison tools
What's not allowed
- No training or fine-tuning of any AI or machine-learning model on our content.
- No dataset creation: our content cannot be included in training corpora, including derived embeddings intended for model training.
- No reproduction at scale: mirroring, mass copying, or republishing our pages is not permitted.
- No access to transactional or private areas: /account/, /checkout/, /basket/, and any pages or forms restricted in /llms.txt or robots.txt are off-limits.
- No removal of attribution: if our content has informed an AI response, the source must be shown clearly.
Attribution requirements
If your AI system shows information based on our content, you must:
- Name the source as "Gold Traders (UK) Ltd".
- Link directly to the specific page URL used.
- Make sure the citation is clearly visible when the answer is displayed.

Technical files and controls
Gold Traders publishes the following AI-specific files:
- /llms.txt - a directory of key pages with descriptions, for AI indexing
- /llms-full.txt - full plain-text content of our main pages, ready for AI retrieval without fetching live pages
- /robots.txt - general crawler directives, including disallowed sections
Please honour standard cache-control headers and follow our sitemap at https://www.gold-traders.co.uk/sitemap.xml. Also respect any meta robots or HTTP headers where present (for example, noindex or noarchive).
Where an agent supports it, we may set advisory headers such as:
X-AI-Policy: train=disallow; generate=allow; attribution=required; linkback=required
Licensing and partnerships
If you would like to use our content beyond these permissions - for example, for offline search at scale, a commercial licence, or access to a high-availability pricing or product feed - please contact us at legal@gold-traders.co.uk.
Third-party rights
Some pages on our site include trademarks, brand names, and images owned by third parties (for example, The Royal Mint). Your use must also comply with those owners' policies and with applicable law. Please do not imply endorsement from us or from any third party.
Transactional pages and user-submitted data are excluded from AI use entirely. Do not collect personal data from forms or gated areas of our site.
Enforcement
We reserve all rights under applicable law. Breaches of this policy may result in technical access controls, takedown requests, and/or legal action. Continued access to the Gold Traders website signifies acceptance of this policy.
Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Where relevant, we will also update the rules in /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt.
