Product Description
2021 is the final year of the Valiant series, and the 2021 1oz coin has a small change that sets it apart. The Royal Mint added a micro-dot texture to its flat background, which it lists as an extra feature for this year.
Design details
St George rides into battle on the reverse, caught at the moment he defeats the dragon. The design by Etienne Millner reaches almost to the coin's edge, over a guilloche pattern of fine engraved lines.
Incuse areas are cut into the surface rather than raised, and frosting brings out parts of the scene.
Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse, with the £2 face value. 2021 is the last Valiant to carry her portrait.

Investing Information
What about VAT?
Silver isn't VAT-free in the UK. This pre-owned coin is sold under the VAT margin scheme, which means VAT is worked out on our margin only, not the full price. Pre-owned silver is often cheaper than new as a result.
CGT-free for UK residents
The Valiant is UK legal tender, so if you're a UK resident, any gain when you sell is free from Capital Gains Tax.
Selling on
Dealers recognise Royal Mint bullion coins in 999.9 fine silver, and the 1oz size is easy to sell in small amounts. As the last year of the series, the 2021 coin may also attract collectors.
We don't give financial advice
We can explain the tax facts, but we can't offer personal financial advice. Please do your own research and get professional guidance if you need it before investing.

Introducing the Valiant
First issued by The Royal Mint in 2018, the Valiant is a silver bullion coin featuring St George, England's patron saint, and his legendary victory over the dragon.
Two sizes
A 10oz coin launched the series in 2018. The 1oz coin joined it in 2019, and both sizes were made each year until 2021.
One design throughout
Etienne Millner's St George design was used on every Valiant, with Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The 2021 1oz coin added a micro-dot background texture.
Buying Valiants today
No Valiant newer than 2021 appears on The Royal Mint's records, so every coin is now bought on the secondary market. Fine silver content and UK legal tender status make them a practical choice.
