Product Description
At the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, ten heraldic beasts stood guard at the entrance to Westminster Abbey. Sculpted by James Woodford RA, they inspired The Royal Mint's Queen's Beasts bullion range, which began in 2016.
About the Falcon of the Plantagenets
In heraldry, the falcon stands for single-minded determination.
It was widely used by Edward IV, the first Yorkist king. His falcon sits on a golden fetterlock, slightly open to show Edward's claim to the throne. The falcon was later adopted by Henry VII, who united the Houses of York and Lancaster.
The design
Jody Clark reimagined the falcon for the coin, based on the statue that stood at the 1953 coronation.
The obverse shows Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with the £5 face value. The Falcon of the Plantagenets arrived in 2019, alongside the Yale of Beaufort.

What condition will my coin be in?
This is a pre-owned coin. It may show light marks from earlier handling, which is normal for bullion that has been bought and sold before. Marks like these don't change the amount of silver in the coin.
Packaging
Each coin is supplied in its original perspex capsule. Being pre-owned, it will likely show signs of wear.
The 2019 Falcon of the Plantagenets 2oz Silver suits anyone collecting the Queen's Beasts range, or simply adding silver to their holdings.

Investing Information
VAT and the margin scheme
Silver isn't VAT-exempt in the UK. This coin is pre-owned, so we sell it under the VAT margin scheme. VAT is only charged on our margin, not the full sale price, which usually makes pre-owned silver cheaper than new.
Free from Capital Gains Tax
Queen's Beasts coins are UK legal tender. UK residents don't pay Capital Gains Tax on any gain when they sell them.
Selling it on
This is a Royal Mint bullion coin in fine silver, so dealers know it well. As part of an eleven-design range, it may also interest collectors.

The Queen's Beasts range
The Royal Mint launched its Queen's Beasts bullion range in 2016 with the Lion of England. It's based on the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard at the entrance to Westminster Abbey at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
Eleven designs
Each of the ten beasts had its own design, and the range ended with the Completer coin, which shows all ten together around the Queen.
The designer
Jody Clark designed every coin in the range, including the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
