Ready to sell your American Silver Coins?

Selling American silver coins to us is simple and rewarding. Whether you're looking to cash in a tube of Silver Eagles, a set of commemorative half dollars, or a loose collection of older dimes, quarters, and half dollars, we're here to help.

We buy:

  • Modern bullion coins such as the 1oz American Silver Eagle (.999 fine)
  • Pre-1965 "junk" silver coins, including Roosevelt and Mercury dimes, Washington quarters, Franklin and Walking Liberty half dollars
  • 90% silver proof sets and commemoratives
  • 40% silver coins, such as 1965–1970 Kennedy half dollars

There's no need to sort, polish or grade your coins. As long as they contain silver, we'll assess them accurately and pay according to their metal content. We welcome both small batches and bulk lots - and if you're not sure what you have, that's fine too. Send them in, and we'll do the rest.

What types of US silver coins do we buy?

American silver coins fall into two broad categories: modern bullion coins and historical circulating coinage.

Modern Bullion Coins

These are investment-grade coins minted by the US Mint, usually marked with their weight and purity. The most common examples include:

  • American Silver Eagles - Introduced in 1986, containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Highly popular with investors and widely recognised.
  • America the Beautiful 5oz coins - Larger bullion coins with high silver content, issued from 2010 to 2021.
  • US Mint commemoratives - Various limited-edition .999 silver coins produced in proof or uncirculated finishes.

Circulating "Junk" Silver Coins

These coins were produced for everyday use but contain a high percentage of silver:

  • Pre-1965 dimes, quarters, and half dollars - 90% silver content
  • Kennedy half dollars (1965–1970) - 40% silver content
  • Peace and Morgan silver dollars (1878–1935) - 90% silver, each weighing 26.73g

Although these coins may be worn, tarnished or damaged, they still have intrinsic value due to their silver content - and we're happy to purchase them regardless of condition.

How is the value of US silver coins calculated?

The value of American silver coins is primarily determined by:

  • Weight and purity: We test and verify the metal content of each coin or group of coins.
  • Live silver price: Updated daily, the market spot price of silver is the biggest factor.
  • Type of coin: Some coins, like Silver Eagles, command slightly higher rates due to demand and recognisability.
  • Condition: While we don't require pristine coins, heavily worn or damaged items may be assessed at scrap value.

Face value plays no role in our pricing. For example, a 25-cent Washington quarter dated before 1965 will be valued for its 90% silver content, not its denomination.
