Platinum
Platinum doesn't wear like gold. It's a much harder metal, and although it can be scratched, the metal is simply displaced.
Although considered more valuable than gold, this has not always been the case. In fact, in the 17th century, the Spanish considered platinum a nuisance as they were solely interested in mining and refining silver.
Today, in addition to being a desirable metal in jewellery, platinum has many scientific and industrial uses. It is used in pacemakers, to manufacture nitrogen-based fertilisers, and can even be found on the nose cones of missiles!

Stones mounted in platinum
Please remember we're paying you for the precious metal content of your item. As such, we don't pay for stones, unless you have single diamonds over a third of a carat in weight. If you're able to, we always recommend you remove any stones you wish to keep, prior to sending. If however you don’t feel confident to remove a stone and it is of a reasonable size, we are happy to remove and return stones if requested. We charge a nominal fee, just to cover the cost of the envelope and postage.
You can use the platinum calculator below to value your items. If you have an item of platinum of a different purity, all our rates are displayed on our scrap platinum prices page.
