Product Description

Since its introduction in 1997, the Silver Britannia has become the flagship silver bullion coin of the United Kingdom. The 2026 edition continues this proud tradition, presenting a blend of heritage, artistry, and cutting-edge security.

Each coin is struck from 31.1 grams (1 troy ounce) of 999 fine silver. The reverse features Britannia standing strong with shield and trident, accompanied by:

  • Latent image shifting from a trident to a padlock.
  • Surface animation that creates the impression of moving waves.
  • Micro-text border inscribed with Decus et Tutamen - 'an ornament and a safeguard'.
  • Tincture lines emphasising details such as the Union flag on Britannia's shield.

The obverse carries Martin Jennings' uncrowned portrait of His Majesty King Charles III alongside the monetary denomination of £2.

Coins are supplied individually in protective flips. Orders of 25 are supplied in original tubes from The Royal Mint, and larger bulk orders of 500 are shipped in sealed monster boxes. Whether purchased singly or by the box, these coins represent an efficient way to acquire pure silver in a globally trusted format.

Denomination Information

The Britannia series has been a cornerstone of the UK bullion market since 1987 for gold and 1997 for silver. Its distinctive design by Philip Nathan captures Britannia as both protector and symbol of national identity, a figure that has appeared on British coinage since the reign of Charles II.

Initially issued in .958 'Britannia silver', the coin's fineness was increased in 2013 to 999, aligning it with international bullion standards. The addition of advanced security features in 2021 marked another milestone, reinforcing its status as one of the world's most secure bullion coins.

For investors, the Silver Britannia offers the reassurance of The Royal Mint's quality, UK government assurance of weight and purity, and excellent global recognition.
