Launching in September 2026, they remain one of the most recognisable and trusted gold bullion coins worldwide.
Read moreBritannia coins have been a mainstay of British bullion since 1987. Each year brings another opportunity for investors to add these trusted coins to their portfolios, and the 2026 edition is no exception.

The obverse features Martin Jennings' uncrowned portrait of King Charles III and the coin's denomination of £100.

Alternatively, you may collect in person from our Royal Wootton Bassett office. Customers choosing this option must provide official photo ID (passport or driving licence) along with proof of address (such as a recent utility bill, bank statement or council tax bill) on collection.
We supply UK customers only.
The 2026 1oz Gold Britannia is both VAT-free and Capital Gains Tax exempt, offering two significant tax advantages for UK investors. This exemption applies because Britannia coins are classed as legal tender in the United Kingdom.
For many investors, this makes Britannias more attractive than other international bullion coins, such as Krugerrands or American Eagles, which do not enjoy the same CGT-free status. The strong secondary market for Britannias also ensures excellent liquidity if you decide to sell in future.
As always, while we can share factual details about tax treatment, we cannot offer individual financial advice. Please do your own research and seek professional guidance if needed before making an investment decision.
The Gold Britannia was first introduced in 1987, offering a distinctly British counterpart to other one-ounce bullion coins. Initially minted in 22-carat gold, the series transitioned in 2013 to a 24-carat, 999.9 fineness. Since then, Britannias have become a benchmark for quality and trust in the bullion world.
Britannia herself is a symbol that dates back nearly two millennia, first appearing on Roman coins and later revived under Charles II. Philip Nathan's acclaimed design, chosen for the first issue in 1987, depicts her as both protective and powerful - a personification of Britain's strength and resilience.
Today, Britannia remains one of the most secure bullion coins available, blending history and tradition with cutting-edge innovation.
