About this product
The 2025 St George and the Dragon 1oz Silver Bullion Coin is the second release in The Royal Mint's dramatic bullion series inspired by the iconic tale of England's patron saint. Struck in 999 fine silver, this £2 coin revives a long-forgotten design by George Kruger Gray, originally created for George V's Silver Jubilee in 1935 - now finally realised in silver bullion form.
Ideal for collectors and investors alike, each coin contains one troy ounce of silver, is CGT exempt, and carries the uncrowned portrait of King Charles III on the obverse.

Product Description
Few legends are as enduring as that of St George and the Dragon - a tale of valour, faith, and triumph over darkness. This 2025 silver bullion coin, minted by The Royal Mint, pays tribute to that legacy with a powerful new design drawn from a rediscovered piece of numismatic history.
The reverse design is by George Kruger Gray, a leading coin artist of the early 20th century. Originally commissioned for George V's Silver Jubilee in 1935, this depiction of St George - heavily armoured, mid-battle, spear in hand - never made it to circulation. Nearly 90 years later, The Royal Mint has remastered this lost design with careful refinement, delivering a modern yet respectful take on the legendary conflict between man and beast.
This is the second release in the St George and the Dragon bullion series, following the inaugural 2024 edition. The 2025 coin is struck in 999 fine silver, weighs one troy ounce, and carries a £2 denomination, making it exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents.
On the obverse is Martin Jennings' portrait of King Charles III, shown uncrowned - a detail introduced after Her Late Majesty's passing, and now standard on circulating and bullion coinage.
Each coin is struck to The Royal Mint's bullion standard and supplied loose in a protective coin flip. Orders in multiples of 25 are dispatched in tubes.
Whether you're drawn to the artistry, the symbolism, or the investment potential, this striking 2025 issue is a standout addition to any silver stack or collection.

Denomination Information
Although modern bullion coins like this are rarely used in everyday transactions, the £2 denomination grants them legal tender status in the UK, which, crucially, makes them exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
The 1oz silver format has become a global standard, recognised and traded with ease across the precious metals market. In the UK, 1oz silver coins from The Royal Mint, such as Britannias, Tudor Beasts, and this St George and the Dragon series, combine the benefits of official minting, legal-tender status, and trusted metal content, making them a practical and attractive option for both new and seasoned investors.
