The United States double eagle gold coin has a face value of 20 dollars and was minted from 1849 to 1933. Two primary designs exist for the double eagle, the 'Liberty Head' version, produced between 1849 to 1907 and the 'Saint Gaudens' version, produced between 1907 and 1933.
The Saint Gaudens double eagle is named after its designer, Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
